The Friends of the Ludwig Gallery at Oberhausen Castle are turning fifteen, and that calls for a celebration! The association has made numerous things possible for the Ludwig Gallery. The most recent is... Wiesel's Beautiful Signs, an art project by Klaus Wiesel, who counters the usual prohibition signs around the museum, but also throughout the entire Kaisergarten, with positive signs expressing permission. Besides numerous acquisitions, restorations, programs, especially for children and young people, and of course the invaluable moral support, the sculpture is probably the largest and most visible project. Red Heels of the Pop Art artist Heiner Meyer, which has stood in front of the main building of the LUDWIGGALERIE since 2021.
We extend our warmest congratulations on your 15th anniversary and have put together a diverse program of events for you on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Get to know art and artists through performances, guided tours, and discussions, learn more about the work of the Friends Association, or purchase a limited-edition print. Red HeelsHeiner Meyer designed the items especially for the anniversary. A graphic edition by Günther Uecker is also for sale, with proceeds going to the Oberhausen Peace Village. Children and teenagers can try their hand at creating their own button-making projects. You can take home a personal memento of the day by visiting our photo booth and posing with Klaus Wiesels. Beautiful signs Have your picture taken.
