From Adamas to Sorcerer's Apprentice
Art in Oberhausen – photographed by Rainer Schlautmann
June 14, 2026 – October 4, 2026
A bright red stepped tower amidst the greenery of the Vondern wasteland, a striking bridge that winds its way in a sweeping spiral from the Kaisergarten across the Rhine-Herne Canal, a suspended elephant behind the main train station – and who would have suspected a sculpture by Karl Prasse in the schoolyard of the Alsfeld School? Imposing steel structures, reminiscent of the region's industrial heritage, meet urban art. Local artists alternate with unexpected celebrities like Tobias Rehberger or Georg Kolbe. For the project Art Tour OberhausenIn a project funded by the Rhineland Regional Association, Oberhausen photographer Rainer Schlautmann (born 1971) skillfully showcases public art. His photographs present many artworks in a new light. A comprehensive catalog of the artworks, enhanced with informative texts by Lena Juliane Elster, is available at www.kunsttour-oberhausen.de. Selected routes invite visitors to discover art and the city! The exhibition at the LUDWIGGALERIE's Little Castle offers an overview and demonstrates the diversity and surprises of public art in Oberhausen!
Opening: June 14, 2026, 11 a.m. Panorama Gallery
